A few weeks ago, we went with some good friends to a sweet beach here in Boston. There was still snow on the ground and the day started off beautiful. Until, of course, we set up our blankets. Then the clouds rolled in and the sun was covered. We toughed out the cold and stayed a few hours. The kids LOVED it. In fact, the minute Landon saw the freezing cold water, he ran right for it and was in up to his waist. He actually tried to bring his shorts and goggles. I left them in the car. For the next two hours he climbed rocks, trees, dug holes, and ran around in wet, cold, clothes. Why are kids so resilient?

First Beach Trip of 2009

Child Services Would not Approve
I came down stairs and Landon was finishing up his latest invention. He took two big tires off one of his cars, taped seran wrap over the opening, and connected tongue depressors on the sides. Wa-La!! Protective eyewear. He needed goggles so his eyes wouldn't be damaged on his "ride." The tongue depressors didn't work, but instead of throwing in the towel, he just taped them to his spider-man mask. When his goggles were secured he added his helmet, snow boots, jacket and gloves for padding and protection.
5...4...3...2..1...
Whoa!! Steady now!!
(He hit the wall at the end of stairs everytime.
Good thing he was wearing his protective gear.)
