Cape Hedo

This is really the northern most tip of Okinawa. Where the East china sea meets the Pacific ocean. The drive: not far in miles, but took about 2 hours from where we live. Once you get past the bigger towns, the road parallels the ocean. It's beautiful. We were staying at Okuma, so we were pretty close. Someone we spoke to said that with the recent storm, huge conch shells were washed ashore and that if we wanted one, we better hurry up and scour the beach at Hedo point. We did, but everyone else beat us to those conch shells. We did find a big bird atop a mountain though. The kids thought it was funny that you could climb into the birds belly and look out it's throat.

See the bird's head peeking above the mountain top?
