Toguchi Beach

Didn't you always wish, that when you were baptized, a piece of hair or an extremity would not go all the way under water and they'd have to do it over again? I still wish this. I would love to get baptized here. This is where Landon is getting baptized this July. You're all invited.

Landon's good friend. His family moved over here with us from DC area.
Yay, they will be here the entire time we are here!

Landon approves.

We can't seem to leave a beach until after sunset.

And what's a beach with out a roller slide. Boy, I'm gonna
miss these when we move back to the states.

My Little Unicorns

One day for school, I thought I'd turn my little beauties into unicorns.

Audra ate her tail.

Cape Hedo

This is really the northern most tip of Okinawa. Where the East china sea meets the Pacific ocean. The drive: not far in miles, but took about 2 hours from where we live. Once you get past the bigger towns, the road parallels the ocean. It's beautiful. We were staying at Okuma, so we were pretty close. Someone we spoke to said that with the recent storm, huge conch shells were washed ashore and that if we wanted one, we better hurry up and scour the beach at Hedo point. We did, but everyone else beat us to those conch shells. We did find a big bird atop a mountain though. The kids thought it was funny that you could climb into the birds belly and look out it's throat.

See the bird's head peeking above the mountain top?

Okuma

On the northern tip of Okinawa, the military has a piece of property that they've made into a resort. We rented a room for a few days. We were there with one other family for the entire time. It was a bit stormy, but check it out! Look at the water! We all enjoyed each other and besides what's in the pictures, I will remember my 8 mile run (the last one I did was years ago). Through a tiny Japanese town, right on the ocean, past some grazing cows (memories of Enumclaw)--pure awesomeness!

The plan: Cape Zanpa Lighthouse

I'm surrounded by well organized, talented, planner type people. They are so good at it and I used to think I was pretty good at it. I've recently had a realization that despite my mother's organizational type-A-ness, I did not inherit that gene and am not a great planner. So this was a no plan day. Just a drive to the lighthouse, which in the end, we never actually reached. We stopped at this beach right around the corner from the lighthouse and enjoyed it so much, we stayed until the sun went down. I'm sure if we had an actual plan, we would have made it to the lighthouse and enjoyed it immensely. But we would've missed out on this. And it was wonderful. Is there a way to find a happy medium between being really organized and being able to fly by the seat of your pants?
