Finally

Although we now live on this beautiful tropical island in Japan, that is hot and humid, I'm freezing. Because the blasted air conditioner is right above my head in the "temporary housing" we will be in for a few weeks. And we have no control over how much air or how cold it is in here. We open our windows just to let the cold air out. This and the fact that our entire family is jet lagged and we wake up at 3 am every morning, are my only complaints. There are other things I would have complained about a week ago, but we are finally HERE. So I will leave it at that.

Right away I can tell you I love Japanese people. Being 6 months prego and lugging 800 bags and all are kids around the airport was a challenge, but the Japanese people were awesome. We were escorted to the front of the line at customs and immigration and the bathrooms are rad! It's like IKEA--everywhere. Kid size sinks and chairs you can sit them in, in each stall. The squat potty seemed like an adventure, but it wasn't the right timing. Erin almost had his chance to experience it, but after he realized what the hole in the ground was, he opted to get back in line and wait for an "American" potty. I must say, the squatty potty seemed very ergonomic. I'll let you know how it goes.

We've also met some very nice people who have made us feel so welcome. And we experienced our first Japanese park today. They call them the un-safe parks. It was awesome. Except that Erin thinks some ravenous insect bit his leg. I think he was faking his limp, but I'll give him props for carrying Audra all the way back to our temp house despite his injury.
